CAC Book Donation Program
The Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) Book Donation Program began with a vision: every child and sibling who walked through our doors would leave with a brand-new book. More than contributing to the child’s visit to the CAC, this lasting gift would symbolize the CAC’s mission to improve the safety and wellbeing of every visitor on his or her path to recovery, hope and healing.
Thanks to our partnership with global education leader Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH), we were able to realize this vision. “We appreciate the difficult experiences that lead children to the CAC, and we know that our books have the power to restore light, curiosity and creativity to children’s lives,” said Josef Blumenfeld, Senior Vice President of HMH Corporate Affairs and recent addition to the CAC Board of Trustees. “Sponsoring this wonderful program by donating a selection of our titles is a privilege and the least we can do to improve the lives of CAC visitors.”
The CAC’s waiting room includes a special HMH book display that children may browse while waiting for their interview or exam. Our on-site Family Justice Center Childcare Provider often reads with children and encourages them to explore the display’s rich selection.
