Celebrating Twenty Extraordinary Years

Oct 02, 2015

On Thursday October 1, the Children’s Advocacy Center of Suffolk County (CAC) gathered with partners, sponsors, friends and supporters to celebrate twenty extraordinary years of keeping kids safe and strengthening families.  Honorary co-chair Mayor Martin J. Walsh and chairs Joseph Bisognano, Saskia Epstein and Jack Harrington, together with our event committee hosted an evening that we will remember for years to come.  Mayor Walsh addressed our guests and affirmed his commitment to work with the CAC as we build a future free of violence and abuse.

Every day, children and families visit the CAC seeking support and services.  For every child, a team is ready to provide all that we can to provide safety and to restore hope for the future.  It’s rare that we have the opportunity to come together to recognize the importance and impact of our work.  Or to honor outstanding leaders like our awardees Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley, Peter Flaherty & Jennifer Mugar Flaherty and James E. Rooney.  It is even more rare that we are able to elevate the voices of incredible young women like Sara who moved us with her strength and resilience and inspired us with her call to action.  As Sara told us all, “Kids need to know they’re not alone.  They need to know there’s a CAC.  They need to know there’s hope out there.”

Our 20th Anniversary Celebration has energized us and galvanized our commitment for the work ahead.  Thank you to all who make this possible!
