Marcela Familiar-Bolaños, LICSW Mental Health Clinician

Originally from Mexico, Marcela is a bilingual and bicultural Mental Health Clinician at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Suffolk County (CAC). Marcela is passionate about advocating and providing clinical support to children and families who have experienced trauma. Marcela provides Problematic Sexual Behavior- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (PSB-CBT) as well mental health consultation to families and multidisciplinary teams (MDT) to connect them to helpful resources and supports within the community.

Marcela is a Masters level social worker with an MSW from Boston College School of Social Work where she was a member of the Latinx Leadership Initiative, an MGB fellow, and a Rappaport Fellow. Marcela holds bachelor degrees in Neuroscience and Psychology from Skidmore College.

Marcela has held multiple roles working with children and families who have been exposed to trauma. Prior to working at the CAC, Marcela was an outpatient therapist at the Child Witness to Violence Program at Boston Medical Center. She has also held roles as a school social worker, a bachelor’s level clinician in an In-Home Therapy (IHT) team, and a residential counselor.

In her free time, Marcela enjoys cooking, playing volleyball, spending time with her friends and family, and traveling to new places.
