Maria Carolina provides bilingual evidence-based, trauma-focused mental health services to children and caregivers and also serves as the CAC’s lead resource for concerns involving psychiatric emergencies. She works closely with CAC staff and our multidisciplinary partners to provide training, consultation, and support when children and families are experiencing heightened mental health needs, strengthen our response to psychiatric crises, and help ensure children and families receive coordinated, trauma-informed care during particularly vulnerable moments.

Prior to the CAC, Caro worked for the Boston Emergency Service Team as a Child Clinician and later as an Assistant Director where she evaluated children and adolescents in crisis, provided clinical support, collaborated with providers, and made appropriate referrals. She also worked as a Clinician at The Home For Little Wanderers in a group home, where she provided individual, group, and family therapy to children and adolescents. Internationally, Maria Carolina spent a year in Venezuela after obtaining her Master’s, helping to start a non-profit organization which provides multidisciplinary therapies (occupational, psychological, physical, and speech) at a low cost to underserved populations. Maria Carolina holds a Master's in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine from Boston University Medical School, and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Massachusetts.

In her free time, Maria Carolina enjoys spending time with her friends and family, traveling, and staying active outdoors.
