All survivors deserve safety, healing, and justice

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Suffolk County stands with all survivors of physical abuse, sexual abuse and commercial sexual exploitation. No matter who the offender is. No matter the outcome of a court case. We applaud the courage of those who choose to come forward, and the bravery of those who can't or who, for many reasons, fear they won't be believed.

Predators leverage their status and power to inflict harm. They treat people like commodities to facilitate violence. The pain and devastation they cause can endure throughout a lifetime. And a lack of accountability in high-profile cases locally and nationally can leave people who have been harmed by less publicly known traffickers and abusers, including survivors in our community, feeling helpless.

The denial of justice can deepen the pain experienced by victims, and discourage individuals who need help from coming forward.

Violence can never be condoned, and survivors of abuse and exploitation deserve to be believed. They deserve to be safe. They deserve to heal. And they deserve justice.

To all survivors of these crimes: We believe you. And we are here to provide you with the support you deserve and the services to help you heal.

To our community and partners: Be loud in your support of and belief in survivors. Be a safe space for the children in your life so they know they can come to you if they’re being harmed.

Together, we can take meaningful steps to make our community and children safer.
