Protect Your Child's Personal Information
When taking photos to celebrate the first day of school, remember to capture the memories WITHOUT sharing your child's personal information online!
Avoid sharing a child's:
- Full name
- Grade
- Age
- Teacher
- School
- Favorites
These details could be used to identify your child or enable others to form "friendships" with them - a red flag of grooming a child for abuse - whether online or in-person.

Start Conversations About Safety
We know that back-to-school conversations typically focus on buses, schedules, and school supplies - but it's also a perfect time to talk about personal safety!
Keeping youth safe from abuse starts with open, clear, and honest conversations about bodies, boundaries, communication, and consent. As a trusted adult in their lives, you can help youth of all ages feel comfortable talking about these topics and encourage them to tell if something doesn't feel right.
